Tacos & Tutus: My Friends Threw the BEST Baby Shower

I had my baby shower today!
It was so. much. fun!
For real. I have the best friends in the whole world.

Stephanie, Myself, & Kendra.
Stephanie and I have been friends since we were babies -- our moms were friends and pregnant at the same time. We are 8 days apart...9 when it's a leap year. We met Kendra in Kindergarten when we were in Daisies together. We all went to school together and stayed close after graduating. We all got together back in March to plan the Baby Shower. I knew that I didn't want pink -- even though we knew it was a girl, pink is pretty but predictable -- I thought purples would be more my style, plus it's one of my favorite colors. Stephanie had a list of potential themes. I honestly had no idea what themes to even consider. We ended up going with "Tacos and Tutus" -- I mean, this is Texas. Tex-Mex is a staple in this state.

In addition to a taco buffet table, we had a "Mom-osa" bar with four different juices. Don't worry, I didn't drink the champagne. I did have a couple glasses of orange juice! Stephanie and Kendra did an awesome job for the shower. Stephanie prepared the food and ordered cupcakes and cookies -- baked by another friend from High School named Amanda -- and it was all so delicious!

Seriously, how cute are these?!
Kendra out-did herself with the tulle skirt, which she made by hand. It was so fluffy. All the different shades of purple reminded me of Rapunzel's dress in Tangled. She was even working on it up to the night before to make sure it covered the entire front and sides of the table. It was worth it because it turned out perfect! We used this as the gift table, with a pretty epic diaper cake centerpiece.

Kendra and another friend of mine (also from Kindergarten) pitched in together and then her husband put it all together. It was... interesting taking it apart. I could see some of the items but then found little Easter eggs throughout taking separating all the things.

We played a few games. The game I suggested was for a name reveal. The only way I could think of to have everyone be able to participate. It was a lot of fun. They played "Hangman" to figure out what name we chose. It was a lot of fun and really entertaining seeing what people thought the name was. Unfortunately for you reader, I want to protect her identity so I will not be sharing her name in the blog. Sorry.

After it was over, I went through all the presents -- so much stuff! I wanted to sort them by item and play a little game of Tetris in the bags. These things are going to have to travel 4-5 hours back home so if I can make it a little easier, then cool!
The pink bag next to the basket is all clothes and a few blankets. One is a blanket with the month numbers on it so I can take photos of baby as she grows. The empty basket had all kinds of goodies in it from Stephanie that I will re-use as a diaper caddy in her room with diaper accessories. It's just cute and the perfect size. She also threw something in there specifically for me (it was candy! can you see it hiding in the basket?)
I think it's safe to say that I have the bestest friends in the whole world. They put all of this together in just a few months -- living an hour apart -- and through a group chat with me. Mostly to ask "Do you like this? Ok!" I knew a few things that were happening but there were many surprises along the way. I got to see one of my cousins that I haven't seen since our wedding, and before that was when I was a kid! It was almost like a mini-reunion of friends with everyone there. I hope we can all get together post-baby and have more time to catch up and just hang out.
